Thinking about booking a dog photography session but not quite sure what it involves? You're not alone. Most people who get in touch have never done anything like this before - and that's completely fine. Here's exactly what you can expect when you book a session with Wired & Wild Photography in West Yorkshire.
1. No 'sit', no 'stay', no pressure
The first thing people say when they enquire is usually some version of: 'my dog won't sit still' or 'they never do what I say.' Good. Neither does Podrick, and he's my own dog.
A dog photography session with Wired & Wild is not about getting your dog to perform. It's about capturing them exactly as they are - nose to the ground, mid-zoomie, stealing a stick, or doing that thing they do with their ears when they're trying to figure something out.
The best dog photos are always the candid ones. So don't worry about training your dog before the session. Just bring them as they are.
2. We go at your dog's pace
Every dog is different. Some arrive and immediately want to explore everything. Others need a few minutes to decompress, sniff around, and decide they trust me before we even think about getting the camera out.
I always build time into sessions for exactly this. There's no rush, no schedule to stick to, and no expectation that your dog will be 'camera ready' the moment we arrive. A settled dog always makes for better photos than a stressed one.
Reactive dogs are absolutely welcome. Leads can stay on throughout the entire session and I'm experienced at working around them - leads can be removed in editing where needed.
3. We find the right location for you
West Yorkshire is full of brilliant spots for dog photography. Woodland, moorland, riverside paths, open fields - wherever your dog loves most is usually the best place to shoot. I can suggest locations based on your dog's personality and what you're hoping to get from the session, or we can use somewhere that already holds meaning for you both.
Popular locations include Storthes Hall Woods near Huddersfield, the Holme Valley, Norland Moor near Halifax, and the Calder Valley - but I cover the whole of West Yorkshire and beyond.
4. You'll get your images quickly
After your session, you'll receive your image selects - a curated preview of the best shots - within 48 to 72 hours. Your final fully edited gallery will be delivered within 5 working days via Pixieset, your own private online gallery. Every image is individually edited for colour, light, and tone. No filters, no over-processing. Just your dog looking their absolute best.
5. You'll be really glad you did it
This sounds like a cheesy thing to say, but every single client who has come back to me after receiving their gallery has said some version of the same thing: I didn't realise how much I needed these. Dogs don't stay young forever. Senior dogs especially - if your dog is getting older, now is the time. Not someday. Now.
